I’m a freelance writer living in the Pacific Northwest. My husband Vic and I are expecting our first child in late January 2010. We also live from paycheck to paycheck and have no assets except for our 2004 Toyota truck.

This blog will record how we cope with our financial concerns while preparing to become parents. Yes, it’s about our specific situation, but it is my hope that our one example of modern American pregnancy will open up a dialogue about the links between health care, childbirth, parenting trends and consumerism.
